Preparation of Cotton Fabric:                                                                             

  • Singeing: Objective, types of singeing, details of various singeing methods, drawbacks and advantages.
  • Desizing: Objective, types, method, details and mechanism of removal of starch in various methods. Efficiency of desizing.
  • Scouring: Objectives, mechanism of removal of impurities, Characteristics & Classification of impurities. methods of scouring

  • Bleaching :Objective, classification of bleaching methods, different bleaching agents, their relative merits and demerits
  • Mercerization: Objectives, mechanism related to various physical and chemical changes in cotton during mercerization. Methods of mercerization- cold and hot,  relative merits and demerits

  • Preparation of Silk: Natural and added impurities present, degumming, weighting
  • Preparation of wool: Natural and added impurities present, carbonising, crabbing, milling, felting

  • Chemical processing sequence: Viscose rayon, Polyester and Polyester / Cotton    blend and objectives of the processes

  • Denim Processing: Yarn requirements for quality denim fabrics.  Finishing and washing of denim fabric. Types of denim fabrics. Introduction of Indigo dyeing machines – rope form and sheet form.  Precautions in Indigo dyeing.
