Description:
A guest lecture was conducted by the Jewellery Designing Department on “Creative Design Process for Innovative Jewellery Using Beading Art” on 31/1/2024, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Mr. Mahendra Soni, an expert in beading art and jewellery design, was invited to share his insights and expertise with the students. The session aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the creative design process involved in crafting innovative jewellery through the use of beading art. Beadwork is the art or craft of attaching beads to one another by stringing them with a sewing needle or beading needle and thread or thin wire, Dot wire.  Beads come in a variety of materials, shapes and sizes. Beads are used to create beautiful jewellery pieces i.e. necklace, earring, bracelet or other articles of personal adornment; they are also used in wall hangings and sculpture and many other artworks.

Mr. Mahendra Soni commenced his presentation by showcasing various examples of jewellery pieces created through the intricate process of beading art. He emphasized the importance of creativity, precision, and attention to detail in producing unique and captivating jewellery designs. The session delved into the creative aspects of incorporating beads into jewellery, exploring various techniques and styles that can be applied to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal.

Throughout the lecture, Mr. Soni guided students through the steps of the creative design process, from conceptualization to execution. He highlighted the significance of drawing inspiration from diverse sources, encouraging students to observe the world around them for innovative ideas. The lecture also covered the technical aspects of beading art, including selecting appropriate materials, color combinations, and patterns to achieve a harmonious and visually appealing final product.

The students, primarily from BSc. Jewellery Design & Technology, BA/BCom./BSc. Elective Jewellery Design & Technology, and COSD Jewellery Designing (Certificate & Diploma courses, and Advance Diploma Course), actively participated in the session. The event concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, allowing students to seek clarification and further insights from Mr. Mahender Soni.
