An industrial visit to Gili and Nakshatra brands (brands of Gitangali Jewels) was organized for the students of B.Sc. Jewellery Design & technology, B.A./B.Com. /B.Sc. Jewellery Design & technology, Diploma Jewellery Designing on 22nd July, 2017.
Established in the year 1966, , “Gitangali Jewels” is one of the world's largest integrated branded jewellery manufacturer-retailer. Today its activities are spread across the entire value chain from rough diamond sourcing, cutting, polishing and distribution, to diamond and gold jewellery manufacturing, branding and retailing in India and overseas. It today owns and distributes eight out of the top ten jewellery brands in the country including Gili, Nakshatra, Asmi, Sangini, Nizam and Parineeta.
This visit was conducted with the aim to familiarize the students with the machinery and various practical operations involved in the manufacturing of Jewellery. They came to know about various stages of Jewellery manufacturing.
Factory, fully equipped with latest machineries & equipments, situated in Special Economic Zone (100% export oriented zone of Indian government) with a floor area of 25000 sq ft., having 200+ work forces.

Gitanjali group has expertise in all methods of jewellery making, from enamelling filigree work, hand beaten gold and silver, simple designs or designs with intricate settings in stone. The company manufactures exquisite gold and silver jewellery like necklaces, bracelets, pendants, earrings, rings, cufflinks and other ornaments.
Mr Vikram, Production Manager briefed about the manufacturing process of kundan Meena Jewellery. He told that Kundan-Meena is a unique technique of making jewelry by encrusting gold with precious and semi-precious stones (Kundan work) on one side and the art of colorful enamel work (Meenakari) on the reverse side. There are four steps to making any jewelry piece Ghadayi Khudayi Meenakari and Jadayi. He also imparts the knowledge about upcoming technologies in jewellery industry and blessed them for their lucrative career. The visit proved to be beneficial exercise for all the students as it was completely knowledgeable for future perspective.
