Objective: 

 

To introduce sewing machine and tools to the students.

Students would be able to handle sewing machine and stitch creative surfaces.

 

·         Hand stitching – Darning, basting & hemming                 10 hrs                                  

·         Introduction to sewing tools and equipments                 10 hrs                                   

·         Threading of sewing machine.

·         Relation of needle, thread and fabric.

·         Sewing problems- their causes and remedies

·         Sewing machine control paper exercises                        10 hrs                                     

·         Sewing on fabric- lines, curves, circles, squares etc.         10 hrs                                

·         Tucks, gathers, shirring & pleats                                    20 hrs                                      

·         Introduction to fasteners and their application                                 

·         Edge finishes- piping, binding, band application, drawstrings, Tape finish (Curtains)                                                                             20 hrs                                                                                                             

·         Creative surface development using the techniques learnt. 20 hrs                             

·         Sample development of a cushion and a table runner using the above               mentioned techniques                                                            20 hrs
