Objective: 

To acquaint students with the techniques of flat pattern making.
To introduce students to the concepts of draping.

    • Flat  Pattern Method
    • Draping
  • Drafting of trousers & skirt block                                               05 hrs
  • Adaptations of basic blocks of skirt –flared, gored, circular      05 hrs 
  • Flat pattern design on bodice block through:                            25 hrs
  • Dart manipulation:   Moving, Dividing and combining darts by pivot & slash and spread.
  • Converting dart into:  Seam lines, Gathers, Pleats, Tucks, and Yokes.
  • Skirt Dart manipulation                                                             10 hrs
  • Moving basic dart by slash and pivot method
  • Decorative darts
  • Darts, tucks and pleats
  • Converting dart to flare
  • Style lines and yokes

            Introduction to Grading                                                            26 hrs

  • Terminology
  • Methods of grading- Tracks and Stack Method
  • Grading children & women basic bodice, sleeve and skirt blocks to various sizes.

Preparation of Portfolio

  • Preparing pattern and  grading of one torso design.
