Description

The department of Jewellery designing organized a two day virtual jewellery beading workshop for jewellery designing students.

Beadwork is the art or craft of attaching beads to one another by stringing them with a sewing needle or beading needle and thread or thin wire, Dot wire. Beads come in a variety of materials, shapes and sizes. Beads are used to create beautiful jewellery pieces i.e. necklace,

earring, bracelet or other articles of personal adornment. They are also used in wall hangings and sculpture and many other artworks.

 

Ms. Kshitiza Goyal, Beading Expert and entrepreneur, IBEAD, Mathura demonstrated the work of mixing beads to make the beautiful pieces like necklace, Rings, Pendants, Bangles and earrings etc for stunning spring looks. The aim of this activity to increase the creativity among students so that they can create their own fashionable jewellery and they can commercialize this beading art. During the activity , students got the opportunity to learn all the phases of jewellery beading and chose to make the beautiful pieces like necklace, bracelet and earrings etc according to their interest.

In the beginning session, Dr. Neeru Jain, Head, Department of Jewellery designing, IISU, introduced the students with the beading process, tools and materials. In practical sessions, students were involved with the planning and practice of techniques, types, size and colour combination of the beads as well as beading designs. They learned the technical skills including use of the various pliers, threading, knotting and stringing.

The feedback was positive. They participated enthusiastically & got the opportunity to learn all the phases of jewellery beading. They made the beautiful pieces of earrings  according to their interest.

Outcome

  • Students learned all the phases of jewellery beading and chose to make the beautiful pieces like necklace, bracelet and earrings etc according to their interest.
  • They learned the technical skills including use of the various pliers, threading, knotting and stringing.
  • They can create their own fashionable jewellery
  • Students can commercialized this beading art and open new boundaries for job seekers.
  • They can start their own business with small capital and can give employments to others
